[post_content] => Knowing I'm leaving Thailand tomorrow is pretty difficult. It's hard to understand and realize I'm leaving a place I've spent the last month in and have enjoyed so much. The hardest, though, is to think what home will be like. I feel like I will have changed so much, but, however, home will not have changed at all. So how should I adjust? I feel as if the best method is to bring Thailand with me. When I say that, I mean I need to bring the smiles. I need to bring the greng jai and the Thai attitude. I need to bring Sukothai, Chiang Mai, Chiang Muan, and Bangkok. I need to bring all the people I've met along the way and all the stories I've gathered. I need to bring my experience. I need to bring the reality of a different culture.

"Unfortunately we must say adios, we're high on greng jai, we're on a Thailand overdose"

I am spice, wonderful, different, delicious, perfect, horrible.

[post_content] => Rice fields, stretching so far I can't see past them. Endless green against a backdrop of long and defined clouds that look as though they belong in a painting.

A sea of Thai words being rapidly spoken with my name thrown in every so often as I sit in the car with my host family, wondering what they are saying about me.

Smells of meat fill the market as I rifle my way through, on a desperate hunt for moo ping. Luckily, it is not difficult to find.

The wind blows my hair over my eyes as I ride in the back of a pickup truck in Chiang Muan. Or in the back of a pickup truck in Issan as I head to the market in my white temple clothing. Or as I sit in a Tuk Tuk, weaving through traffic in a busy city, feeling more alive than I ever have.

I feel my mind racing as I try and meditate. Sometimes, for one single second, I am able to grab on to one single thought and suddenly, meditation doesn't feel so overwhelming. As I sit and I acknowledge each thought individually, I no longer stress about if I am "doing it right." I no longer wait to pounce on each thought, ridding my mind of distraction.

I realize how lucky I am to get to live in this country, even if just for a month. I think about impermanence, mindfulness, life, death, connections and relationships. I learn about myself and others.

I feel, I see, I taste, I hear, I smell, I love, Thailand.

Description

Rice fields, stretching so far I can’t see past them. Endless green against a backdrop of long and defined clouds that look as though they belong in a painting. A sea of Thai words being rapidly spoken with my name thrown in every so often as I sit in the car with my host family, wondering what […]

[post_content] => Learning to find home anywhere, to find comfort in the uncomfortable, and to find family within others has made me a true traveler and has shown me how I've grown in ways that I didn't know I could. This trip has truly enriched me and made me whole as a person. I no longer see Thailand and know it as a single story, I've made my own story through traveling, and through experiencing with an open mind and an open heart.

I am happiness among the community,
I am excited,
I am beauty in every direction,
I am kids laughing at the simpliest things,
I am people playing music trying to make money,
I am people bargoning prices,
I am the beauty of blossoming flowers,
I am full of energy,
I am the lost soul becoming found,
I am calm,
I am the sugary underpriced street drinks,
I am the morning warm Salapow,
I am an expierence I will never forget,
I am the land of smiles,
I am where you can find your self,
I am Thailand.
