HIking into the dream
Early in the morning before the sun had even risen, we packed our day packs and began the climb to Macchu Picchu. High up in the mountains the air became more difficult to breathe. As we got closer at our slow and steady pace it was as though we were hiking into the dream of the Inca civilization. The ground was inhabited bey the Incas from 1438 to 1470 until they were colonized. The gound has a sacred and religious presence that has been preserved all this time (minus the tourist company it keeps). The stone work of the temples, plazas, and dwellings are imaculate, with signs of intention such as precision and symmetry. The view of these terraces is awesome at an elevation of 2,400 meters. There were even Alpaca still wandering around the square grass patches.
